Golden A' Design Award Winner Transforms KTV Spaces with Futuristic Design

Designer Kuanxi Li drew inspiration from the words of renowned architect Louis Kahn, who once said, "All the matter in nature, the hills, the streams, the air, and ourselves, are the light that emanates. This mass of substance called matter casts a shadow, and the shadow belongs to the light." This philosophy is reflected in the design of Mking Party K, a KTV space that pushes the boundaries of conventional design.

The unique properties of this design lie in its ability to transport visitors into a different dimension. The entrance, an artificial space science fiction sense door, leads into a world that is mysterious, unknown, punk, digital, and futuristic. The space is an amalgamation of various scenes that break away from the conventional world, leading to an intense urban carnival atmosphere.

The realization of this design was made possible through the use of deformed walls and a highly reflective water corrugated stainless steel ceiling. These elements create an illusion of weightlessness and a blurred fantasy akin to a kaleidoscope. The distorted dynamic modeling and mechanical sense blur the boundary between reality and illusion, inviting exploration of hidden beauty and personality.

The design of Mking Party K is not just about aesthetics; it's about evoking emotions and creating an immersive experience. The automatic hatch to the hall shifts the axis of space, creating a feeling of being aboard a starship floating in the night sky. The space material gives birth to a new art form through the objective physical phenomenon and the subject's creation emotion.

Launched in August 2021 and completed in January 2022 in Nanjing, this project is a testament to the courage and innovation of the new generation in the post-epidemic era. It represents a combination of rationality and sensibility, generating instant scenes and different feelings, thus strengthening the unknowability of space.

The design of Mking Party K faced several challenges, including the development of a narrative guided by the path experience of light. However, these challenges were overcome to create a fascinating immersive experience that refuses to express directly, instead opening the channel of sensory exploration in a mysterious way.
